Reinebringen (484 m a.s.l.)
It's one of the most characteristic and recognizable viewpoints in all of Lofoten. It's located in the southern part of the archipelago, on the island of Moskenesøya, right above the charming town of Reine (link to our article). The trail itself may not impress with its diversity, as it mainly leads up steep stone steps, but the reward at the top is priceless. The panorama of Reine and surrounding islets looks like a postcard and is one of the most photographed views in Lofoten. The route was modernized a few years ago thanks to Nepalese Sherpas who laid about 2,000 stone steps here. Thanks to this, the ascent is safer and more accessible, although still steep and demanding in terms of fitness.

Trail length: 1.1 km
Duration: 1:09 h
Elevation gain: 434 m
Difficulty level: easy
Parking
The nearest free parking is located about 1 km from the beginning of the trail (67.911947, 13.074778). Walking from the parking, you can already see the trail from the road that will lead us to the summit. Alternatively, you can park in Reine itself and take the opportunity to explore the town (which we definitely recommend!).
Trail Description
Walking from the parking towards the beginning of the trail, you can already see the route we'll be taking upwards. The entire path goes through 1,978 stone steps up. The trail is largely exposed, so it's worth remembering appropriate clothing and a supply of water. The entire trail has 434 m of elevation gain over 1.1 km. The ascent should take you less than an hour in good conditions. However, it's worth taking into account that because this is a popular summit in season, it can be quite crowded here. On the way to the summit, we have another magnificent viewpoint from which a panorama of Reine already unfolds. There isn't much space at the summit, but along the way there are many rocks with views where you can sit, rest, and still admire the beautiful panorama. We return down the same way. Camping is prohibited on Reinebringen.

Seasonality
Reinebringen is best climbed in summer when days are long and weather is more stable. In spring and autumn, it's worth assessing conditions on site; in rain or icing, the ascent can be risky. In winter, the trail is discouraged due to accumulated ice and snow.
Being there in September, it's best to go in the afternoon hours, because the closer to sunset, the more the Reinebringen peak covers the town, causing Reine to be in shadow.
